Halter and groundwork Training

Whether you have a young horse, broke horse, or feral horse, every horse benefits from doing groundwork to become fully halter broke.  Being halter broke is not just being able to walk a horse around but it means to be able to move that horse in every which direction on the ground, sending them through obstacles or in a trailer, along with being a good citizen for a farrier.  Katelyn thoroughly enjoys doing groundwork with every horse and has proven herself to be successful in preparing horses even for farriers and loading trailers.

Foal Training

Katelyn follows Clinton Anderson’s foal starting methods of learning to move off and into pressure before even halter training.  When the time comes for halter work, she works on basic groundwork maneuvers.  Foal training is not looking for perfect maneuvers with correct foot fall until later on in their training because foal training is taken at a slower pace.

Colt Starting

Need a horse that needs to be started under saddle? It does not matter the age of the horse, Katelyn will get the job done. This training program is a 90 day minimum in order to build a solid foundation with good habits.  Groundwork is started right away to establish a responsive and respectful horse.  Your horse will have the knowledge it needs before Katelyn steps into the saddle such as forward, back, side to side, turning and suppleness on the halter.  The first ride is never rushed; every horse is different and may require more or even less groundwork than others.  She believes that a horse should know the basics of groundwork skills and ground manners before getting them rideable.  When your horse is being ridden it is taught how to move out with leg pressure and to be soft in all five body parts: head; neck; shoulders; ribcage; and hindquarters.  Being able to move these five body parts at any time can create a soft horse that is willing at any gait and for any obstacle.

Tune Ups

Is your horse ready for riding season but has been sitting during the winter? Or did you purchase a horse that you are looking to learn their buttons? Katelyn is more than capable to put miles on your horse and make several improvements with your horse during his or her time with her.

Rescue Horses

A lot of Katelyn’s clients have been rescue horses.  She also works with Shiloh Acres Horse Rescue and Front Range Equine Rescue to help with the training needed to be adoptable. Depending on the needs of your rescue horse, whether it be halter training, tuning up, or starting under saddle, Katelyn will take the time needed for your horse to be ready.

consignment

Pricing is dependent on how often the horse needs worked each week along with 10% of the final sale. Sale horses can take up to a 60 day period. Your horse will have pictures and video taken as well as marketing for sale.
